MAKING THE FESTIVAL ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL
We want everyone to feel welcome, considered and included at Festival of Libraries. Let’s make this a true celebration of the wonderfully rich diversity of voices in our region. And take every opportunity to encourage even more people to join in the activities.
A big part of how we do this is by reducing barriers and making our events as accessible and inclusive as possible. We know everyone is working with different budgets and resources, so here are some tips and ideas we hope you’ll find useful.
Doing more
We’re working hard to find more ways to make the festival accessible for all. If you find out that an event attendee(s) needs access to specific support (such as a BSL interpreter), please let us know and we will do all we can to accommodate.
We’re also planning a post-festival Festival on YouTube! This means we’ll be releasing captioned films from all recorded live events for people to access and watch online if they weren’t able to join the festival in person.

UNESCO Manchester City of Literature
Inclusivity is a core principle of UNESCO Manchester City of Literature. This means ‘celebrating the rich diversity of voices in the city, building on the strengths of Manchester’s people and widening participation in literary activity.’
As an organisation, we aim to uphold inclusivity and celebrate diversity. And we want Festival of Libraries to showcase how, together, we can successfully strengthen connections between Greater Manchester’s diverse cultures and communities.
